Mid-day Wednesday, family, supporters and Friends of Eva took to the streets of downtown Salinas in protest of the continuing prosecution of Eva Ruiz Gomez. A crowd of about thirty marched through Old Town Salinas, pausing in front of the District Attorney’s office to chant FREE EVA! EVA LIBRE! and then continuing to the Courthouse.
Along the way, Eva’s supporters passed out flyers, giving more information about Eva’s case, to those on the sidewalks and stopped to engage in conversations with dozens of curious and interested people.
A reporter from Univision, Channel 67, followed the crowd from their starting point until they stopped to rally in front of the Courthouse. After the reading of an OPEN LETTER to District Attorney Dean Flippo, asking him to dismiss the criminal charges against Eva in the interest of justice, Unvision reporter Adriana Frederick interviewed members of Eva’s family and Friends of Eva.
Today, Thursday, September 27, a crucial hearing on Eva’s case–the 995 Oral Argument to dismiss the charges against Eva–will be heard in Courtroom #6 at 1:30pm. The public, as well as press, are invited to attend. (Please remember: Persons entering the court will go through a security check –no metal, hats, signs allowed.)
